31 August 2011: Submarine Dismantling Project (SDP)

Polaris has been supporting SDP since January 2010, as part of the customer friend team led by BMT Hi-Q. Polaris has been providing decision support and analysis services to DE&S and, in August 2011, was awarded a contract for continued support until mid-2012. SDP is a major programme which will enter Public Consultation in October 2011.


31 July 2011: Total Support Force Decision Support Model

Polaris has been part of the team delivering the Expeditionary Logistics & Support (ELS) Research Programme since 2008, which is led by SEA. Polaris is part of a four-company team delivering a Decision Support Model for Joint operations. The Company is specifically providing WLC estimation and analysis, and the aim of the model is to provide more effective investment decisions. The contract was awarded in July 2011.


31 July 2011: WAMUS

Polaris, with Corda as Prime Contractor, has secured a study through the Maritime Studies Framework contract to provide WLC estimates for Wide Area Maritime Underwater Search (WAMUS). The study, which was awarded in July 2011, will deliver WLC estimates for a wide range of equipment to inform future investment decisions.


31 July 2011: Niteworks

Polaris became an Associate Member of Niteworks on 26 July 2011. The Company has previously conducted a number of tasks for Niteworks through other associate members, but will now be able to place consultants directly.


07 June 2011: Maritime Studies Framework

Polaris is part of a team led by Corda which won one of the four Maritime Studies Framework contracts from Dstl Naval Systems. The contract was awarded on 2 June 2011 and will present Polaris with opportunities to undertaken OA and WLC studies for Dstl in partnership with Corda.


28 February 2011: Polaris Win CDE Task

Polaris has just secured its second contract from CDE, in partnership with Cranfield University. The contract will develop an innovative model to allow Dstl to optimise the sensor mix for underwater warfare applications. The bid was submitted as part of CDE’s call for ‘novel underwater sensor’ challenge and the project will report in May 2011.


28 February 2011: Appointment to Small Companies Committee of ADS

David Bangert, MD of Polaris, has been appointed to the Small Companies Committee of ADS, the UK’s trade association for Aerospace, Defence and Security. The committee represents the interests of SME’s and works with Government to maximise the contribution of such companies to the defence sector.
