Gathering CBRN Through Life Costs

Polaris has recently completed the initial phase of a project aimed at collecting, collating and analysing the through life costs for all CBRN equipment within the UK MoD’s procurement and support programme. This work was conducted for Dstl in collaboration with Galorath International Limited.

The Aim

To provide fit-for-purpose cost data to support the current round of CBRN Capstone studies, Capability Audit and Capability Investigations, Balance of Investment exercises and ultimately future Director Equipment Plan (DEP) planning rounds.

What we Achieved

In 6 weeks we were able to:

• Conduct a high level analysis of the through life cost data currently available for all procurement and in-service equipment

• Propose a detailed analysis of how the CBRN research programme contributes to the acquisition of new equipments

• Make a number of recommendations and propose a strategy for future work in order to achieve the stated aim of supporting CBRN Capability Investigations

The proposed strategy is being taken forward and is intended to deliver by the end of June 2008.
