Mathematical Modelling

Modelling and simulation techniques provide a way of managing uncertainty and risk. They can be used to make informed predictions about the outcomes of management decisions, or the changing environment in which those decisions are made. Polaris has a depth of expertise in systems modelling, and a track record in delivering modelling solutions for a range of problems.

Modelling and Simulation Tools

Polaris has a base of skills and experience in several mathematical modelling techniques, including:

  • Monte Carlo simulation
  • discrete event simulation
  • system dynamics (SD)
  • spreadsheet models
  • COTS toolsets

As well as having wide experience in the use of proprietary modelling and simulation tools such as ARENA™, Simul8™ and Vensim™, Polaris also has a track record of successfully developing bespoke modelling tools which are independent of any third-party application.

Systems Engineering and Project Management

We couple expertise in these techniques with the systems engineering and project management skills needed to ensure that we deliver models which:

  • are built to an appropriate level of representation
  • deliver results which are understandable and meaningful
  • are properly documented
  • is capable, wherever possible, of verification and validation.
