Logistics Modelling

Polaris is providing continuing support to Dstl Naval Systems, part of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), for the development of a series of simulation models of Naval logistics. Polaris has gained extensive experience using spreadsheets, integer programming tools and the proprietary simulation tool ARENATM, to support analyses for the Future Carrier (CVF) and replacement RFA (MARS) Integrated Project Teams, on behalf of the UK MOD's Director Equipment Capability (ELS).

As part of Dstl's continuing support to the MARS IPT, Polaris has now been asked to develop and maintain an integrated suite of bespoke discrete-event simulation tools to model:

  • The detailed flow of items within a ship and between two ships
  • The delivery of bulk consumables within a task group
  • Forward Aviation Support in a task group
  • The flow of spares and required repair items in a task group to support OMAR (Operational Maintenance and Repair)
  • Maritime Intra Theatre Lift (MITL)
  • Joint Sea Based Logistics (JSBL)

Polaris has thus become a key provider of modelling capability for Naval logistics.
