Analysing Support Costs

Polaris has recently completed a feasibility study into understanding how support costs for in-service military equipment are calculated. This work was conducted for Dstl in collaboration with Galorath International Limited.

The Aim

The short term aim was to lay the foundations for providing fit-for-purpose costs for an internal strategic balance of investment study. However, in the longer term the aim is to provide robust cost data and analysis to support Director Equipment Plan (DEP) planning rounds.

What we Achieved

In 9 weeks we were able to:

  • Capture support cost data from 10 major equipment programmes

  • Analyse each of the major equipments individually and as a group

  • Deliver detailed report containing

  • Results of the analysis

  • Detailed conclusions and recommendations

  • Propose a strategy for future work to address the stated long term aim
